Western USA 15D14N Travelogue (Day 0 – Day 1)

Deciding on the perfect destination for the honeymoon is not as simple as it seems. Both parties will have their ideal honeymoon destination. My ideal honeymoon destination is either Amsterdam or Vienna. However, for my hubby, it will be his all-time favorite, San Fransico; USA. Instead of going for Free and Easy, both of us want a fuss-free guided tour.

After shopping around for almost a few months, we decided to take up Western USA tour from one of the tour agency due to the flexibility and the itineraries they going to over. One main deciding factor was, we will be going to fulfill both of our childhood dream of visiting Disneyland.

Everything was going as plan until a month before the trip, the travel agency informs us that the tour will be canceled due to a lack of participates. Lucky for us, we did saw the moment coming. I had been eyeing on the airfare a few days before the agency broke the news. However, to plan a 2 weeks Free and Easy trip alone is not a simple task. During the process, I face a number of struggles.

As we will be covering Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Fransisco during our two weeks holiday, we wanted to cover as many places with the minimum time spent on traveling. Transportation is one of our biggest concern as both of us is not confident driving in the States. We decided to go ahead with taking public transportation and UBER/LYFT.

Our first airline choice was Singapore Airlines, as it is only airlines that we have 100% confident in the level of service and food especially for long hual.

Before leaving for your trip, do remember to apply for your Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) at least 2 weeks before departure date. It usually takes 2 – 3 working days to get the application approve.

Finally, the day finally arrive for our honeymoon.

Our first stop will be Los Angeles with a short transit in Narita, Japan. I manage to get my hands on Hello Kitty Limited Apple Cake by Tokyo Banana.

Prior to the trip, I booked our airport shuttle service from Mozio.com. Mozio provides airport transfers for more than 2000 airports in the world. All you need to do is to book your ride on either their website or mobile site. You are able to select from shared shuttle services to private limo rides.

After clearing the custom, we headed toward the shuttle service counter situated right outside the terminal to check in.

Within 5 minutes, the shuttle bus drove over for the pickup. The whole process was seamless and efficient.

After 40min of the ride, we reached our 1st hotel, Fairfield Inn by Marriott Anaheim Resort. Fairfield Inn is strategically located right opposite of Disneyland, Anaheim.

We took a walk around the neighbourhood while waiting for our room to be ready for check-in.

I was slightly disappointed with the room as I remember i booked a Premium View Room overlooking Disneyland. However, all I get was the pool view of Courtyard Mariott hotel from my hotel room’s corridor.

Afterall, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Checking in was a breeze. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. She went through the map of the neighbourhood with us, making sure we know how to navigate. The room was amazing with Disney themed. It was clean and spacious. There is a wet and dry bathroom which is convenient for us especially in the morning. It will be excellent if they have more Disney details in the room. The hotel has the prefect location. Disneyland is 5 minutes walk away. There was numerous dinning option within the area.McDonald’s is located right outside the hotel premise.

Day 1 was pretty relaxing for us as we wanted to get more rest and adjust ourselves to the time difference. After taking a nap, we headed to Anaheim Plaza for dinner and Walmart shopping.

Anaheim Plaza is an outdoor shopping area where you able to get retail therapy for the whole family. However, food was kind of limited over here. I will recommend you to visit after dinner.

I was so engross in my Walmart shopping that I forget to take any photos. However, I will still do up a top 10 must buy in Walmart soon, so stay tunes for it.

We are so excited to start our Disneyland adventure tomorrow.

The Alshaya Food Tour – Texas RoadHouse

day3

The last stop of our The Alshaya Food Tour will be at Texas RoadHouse and I am starting to miss everyone in the team.

The first Texas RoadHouse open in 1993 at Clarksville, Indiana. They aims to be a restaurant where customers of all ages can have a great meal with great prices and great fun. The Alshaya Food Tour Dubai – Shake Shack

day3

Time for Shake Shack!! I have been looking forward to them in The Alshaya Food Tour.

Shake Shack had always been listed in the Top must eat fast-food in New York. This reputable fast food chain was also known as the NY Icon.

Every successful restaurant chain started somewhere small. Shake Shack sprouted from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan to support the Madison Square Park Conservancy’s first art installation. In 2004, the bid was won to open a permanent kiosk in the Park: Shake Shack was born.

This modern day “roadside” burger stand serves up delicious burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer, wine and more.

We visited the outlet at Dubai Mall. Other than Dubai Mall, they have outlets at Jumeriah Beach, Mall of Emirates, Financial Bay as well as Dubai Airport Terminal 3.

The Alshaya Food Tour Dubai – P.F. Chang’s

day2

We will be heading to Dubai Mall for our second tasting session at P.F.Chang’s. P.F.Chang’s is an Asian-themed US casual dining restaurant serving American Chinese food.

Even though there a Chinese word in the American Chinese food and the dishes look like Chinese food, the foods served in P.F. Chang’s were not like our normal Chinese Chinese food we had back home. Sound Complicated right?

Just remember that it is American-Chinese food!

TheAlshayaFoodTour55

According to the organizer, P.F.Chang’s is one of the popular dining venue in Dubai. At around 6pm, the restaurant was almost 60% – 70% filled with customers. There were queue lining up waiting to dine in the restaurant. We were greeted by a group of their service staffs eagerly waiting to usher us to our tables.

The Alshaya Food Tour Dubai – IHOP

day2

Day 2 official marked the start of the whole Alshaya Food Tour which we will be taste testing 4 different American-based restaurants. Starting with IHOP, PF Chang, Shake Shack and lastly, Texas Road House. This was also marked the start of my work as we are required to hand in our food review about the restaurants on the same night. Our reviews will act as one of their consideration in bringing the 4 restaurants into Asia.

After a great night sleep in the Sheraton Sweet SleeperTM Bed, I am all fresh and ready for the challenge.

The Alshaya Food Tour Dubai – Day 1

day1

“You have been selected for The Alshaya Food Tour in Dubai !” When I saw the email, I could not believe my eyes. I had been blogging for the past 2 years and this was the biggest recognition I have ever gotten. After knowing who were the other 4 food bloggers, I was kind of stress on my contribution for The Alshaya Food Tour. I was the most novice in the whole group. Nevertheless, I am up for the challenge.

Dubai Here I come!!!

2D1N Valentine’s Day Getaway in Johor City Square

People may envy me that I am working in my boyfriend’s company which I may be able to have my own freedom of time. However, behind the scenes we usually stay in office to work till super late and burn our weekends off.

Most of our time spent together is either working in office or working at home.

This year is our third Valentine’s Day together. I started planning for our Valentine’s Day almost a week in advance.

“Valentine’s  Day Staycation, Valentine’s Day Dinner, Valentine’s Day Oversea Getaway” etc etc. I thought of every single activities that a couple would do together for Valentine’s Day.

In the end, we decided on a 2D1N Getaway in Johor, Malaysia. Away from the crowded Singapore where it so hard to get a place to dine without reervation and where everything were marked up for this day.Other then celebrating Valentine’s Day, this was also a getaway trip for us to rest.

It’s Valentine’s Day, how can I not prepare present for my beloved boyfriend.

Before heading to Johor, I made one of his favorite snack, Muah Chee. Did not expect that the dough came up to be in heart shaped. Perfect for the Valentine Day.
