The largest Hello Kitty Theme Park will be opening on New Year Day, 2015 in Shanghai.
The Hello Kitty Theme Park is even larger than Japan’s Sanrio Puroland. The new Hello Kitty park is located near Shanghai and is about a three hour car ride from Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
The Hello Kitty Theme Park will be divided into six different zones. Each zone will feature over 10 vistor attractions. Each zones will be “hosted” by Sanrio Character : Hello Kitty, My Melody, Keroppi, Badtz-Maru and Monkichi. The sixth zone will be “Friendship Plaza” where several Sanrio character are feature together.
With such a exciting and fun theme park,spending a day will never be enough. Another attraction to the theme park is, there will be a luxury resort hotel. In order to blend into the Hello Kitty Theme Park, the resort hotel will be filled with pink furniture, chandeliers and lots of bows. For Manjong lovers, there will also be a Hello Kitty themed mahjong room.
The park and the hotel are a joint venture between Japan’s Sanrio corporation and China’z Zhejiang New Insight Leisure Tourism Development Co. The park was designed by the Hettema Group, which is based in California. The total cost of the project is estimated to be about 215 million U.S. dollars. The park is expected to host upwards of One Million visitors each year.
Tickets to the Hello Kitty Theme park will be at 200 RMB (SGD $40) for children and 260 RMB (SGD $52)for adults, while weekends will be a bit more expensive.
