Pompompurin Café, the first Sanrio Character Cafe has arrived in Singapore !
Pompompurin is a golden retriever dog character first introduced into Sanrio in 1996. Purin was born on a sunny day on April 16. He is a good-natured golden retriever dog, who lives in his basket at his owner’s house. His trademark is his brown beret that is always on top of his head. Purin’s interest is collecting shoes, which includes his owner’s father’s leather shoes, his owner’s mother’s sandals, etc., and he likes to hide them.
Purin loves drinking milk and eating soft food and pudding that his mother makes. He also spends a lot of time sleeping or hanging out with his friends. Purin’s best friends include a hamster called Muffin, a mouse named Scone, and a bird.
Pompompurin Café is located at Orchard Central Level 4. Due to the overwhelming response, we had to queue for 2 hours before we can enter into Pompompurin paradise.
Passing through the signature Pompompurin Gate, you will enter the garden on Pompompurin.
Followed by the Pompompurin & Friends Tree, which is also the highlight of the cafe. *Get your camera ready for this.
Take a seat at the 4-seater “Tomodachi House” booths and have a cute-licious meal with Pompompurin.
Just by looking at Pompompurin Cafe’s menu will make you scream of cuteness. I hope I got a universe size tummy to try all the adorable Pompompurin themed food.
Love Love Love Marshmallow Latte
Caramel Latte topped with Pompompurin and his poodle friend, Macaroo’s marshmallow. It took quite a while for the marshmallow to melt and the caramel taste was pretty mild.
Taco Rice in a cup of friendship
The moment it was served on the table, we could not help to take out our camera to snap. The recommended method of eating this dish is to overturn Pompompuri rice and sour cream onto the bed of meat sauce and vegetables and mix them. You can also dip the nacho into the bed of tomato meat sauce.
Pompompurin’s Coconut Milk Chicken Curry
Pompomurin shaped rice in a bed of coconut milk chicken curry with cut out shaped vegetables. The curry was stated mild on the menu. However the sweetness from the coconut milk had overpowered the taste of the curry.
Since is a themed cafe, I believe most of the flavor of the menu are design to be kid-friendly as the foods are on the sweeter side.
Pompompurin’s Mango Parfait
The Mango Parfait with Pompompurin’s hand draw features topped with a chocolate dipped cookie as his beret. You get two tiny scoops of ice cream and dice mangoes. There one huge swirl of whipped cream underneath the parfait makes the dessert over jalal.
In conclusion, we felt that we could not have high hope for the quality of food served in a themed cafe. The main selling points are the character and the cute interior designed cafe which made everyone queue. The price of the food was slightly on the higher end especially the beverages. Total damage for this dinner was $100.
