Time for Shake Shack!! I have been looking forward to them in The Alshaya Food Tour.
Shake Shack had always been listed in the Top must eat fast-food in New York. This reputable fast food chain was also known as the NY Icon.
Every successful restaurant chain started somewhere small. Shake Shack sprouted from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan to support the Madison Square Park Conservancy’s first art installation. In 2004, the bid was won to open a permanent kiosk in the Park: Shake Shack was born.
This modern day “roadside” burger stand serves up delicious burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer, wine and more.
We visited the outlet at Dubai Mall. Other than Dubai Mall, they have outlets at Jumeriah Beach, Mall of Emirates, Financial Bay as well as Dubai Airport Terminal 3.
The first impression I had when I saw Shake Shack at the Dubai Mall, I was confuse about the concept as it looks more like a restaurant then fast food outlet. The contemporary sleek interior design of the outlet was incredible and was in line with the branding of Shake Shack.
The service crews were very enthusiastic to introduce of the burgers they offer at the entrance of the outlet and coming up to check on the food while we were dining which you don’t see in a fast food restaurants. The service level was good but is not really appropriate at a fast food outlet. Nevertheless, I do understand that also basically part of Dubai culture as they were more use to a seated service than self-service.
The ordering counters were too close to each other, making the whole ordering process quite uncomfortable. It will be very cramp if there’s a group of friends ordering at one counter.
Shake Shack uses 100% all-natural Angus beef with No hormones and no antibiotics ever. All burgers are cooked medium unless otherwise requested.
We started off with the Original ShackBurger. The flavour of the beef patty burst into your mouth the moment I bite into it. I love the original taste of the beef patty without any additional of chili sauces. The fresh lettuce and tomatoes slices created a light crunch and colors for the whole burger making it extra appetizing.

If you love beef and Portobello mushroom, I will suggest you to go for the Shack Stack. You can have the best of both worlds. The deep fried Portobello mushroom was crispy on the outside yet juicy staked on the beef patty gave you an additional taste and texture.
The cheese was oozing out and you can pull them as you cut the burger apart. It tasted great without chilli sauce too.
The SmokeShack burger was slightly disappointing as the spiciness from the chopped cherry pepper was too overwhelm and covered away the taste of the beef patty and the bacon.
The hotdog menu was super disappointing and I will not recommend you to try the hotdog.
New York Style Hot Dog
The New York Style hotdog was a total failure. The beef hotdog was hard and tasted rubbery. The size of the hotdogs is way too small for the huge bun. The hotdog bun is hard too. If I will like to have hotdog bun, I will prefer the simple and cheap Ikea hotdog bun.
Shack-Cago Hot Dog

The Shack-Cago Hot dog tasted was terrible too. The flavors of all the condiments that was topped on the beef hotdog was too over powering till you could not taste any other food.

The peanut butter shake was heavenly, there nothing to pin point on that. The light saltiness of the peanut butter perfectly leveled the sweetness of the shake out. Apparently, the entire shake tasted great as they are not overly sweet yet rich and creamy.
Other than their milk shake, one of Shake Shack’s signature is their frozen custard. Frozen custard is a thicker and creamier version of Ice Cream. The dense frozen custard ice cream blended at high speed with different mix-ins ingredients.
Out of all the flavors of their frozen custard, I like the Dubai Malt the most. It had the different level of taste which I don’t get sick off as the portion of the frozen custard was kind of big. I really hope they could have it in Singapore.
The Shake Attack was super chocolaty and rich with the combination of Chocolate custard, Chocolate fudge, Chocolate truffle cookie dough and Valrhoana chocolate pearls and lastly topped off with Chocolate Sprinkles. For a chocolate lover like me, this combination is simply heavenly but I tend to get overwhelm with the sweetness from the chocolate after a while. Maybe they can consider using Dark chocolate custard to balance out the sweetness for the other mix-ins.
Red Velvet Concrete

The Red Velvet Concrete was another flavor which one of the flavor I will recommend for people who does not like too sweet desserts. The vanilla custard had incorporated with the light sourness of the cream cheese. Together with the Red velvet cake crumbs, it gave you the light yet rich taste of the red velvet cake.
It will be great if the size of the frozen custard could be reduced slightly as the Frozen Custard was dense and quite filling.
Overall, I do hope and look forward to having Shake Shack in Singapore and in Asia. I will definitely go back for their Shake Stack burger and milk shake. However, hope they adopt the fast food concept and having a choice of chilli sauces will be good.
Shake Shack will definitely create a big woo ha for the burger craze in Singapore.
